FrogPilot gets louder and returns to T.O.

Blair, of TurnItUpSideDown, informs us that FrogPilot will debut their new lineup — now including a second guitarist, Yushi — at the Smiling Buddha Bar (once again) in Toronto on August 5th at 8:00PM for a thrifty $5. For the record, that adds to the previous lineup of Satoshi, Takashi, and Kodo Ryuji.

Osaka’s Frog Pilot to play Canada Day Toronto

Thanks to Blair of TurnItUpSideDown (organisers of this show) for the info. Judging by their history, it looks like Frog Pilot is looking to challenge the ‘Bombs as Toronto’s Japanese band of choice.
The show goes down at The Smiling Buddha Bar at 9:00pm on 961 College (at Dovercourt). Tickets are $5, and Powerplant will be […]

Here’s some extra info concerning the two Japanese bands who will perform at this year’s NXNE in Toronto. The good thing is we’ll get to see (what should be) a free show at Yonge-Dunas Square.

NXNE Updates

Toronto’s North By Northeast festival, taking place June 8 - 10, 2006 will (as of latest notice) be host to two indie punk rock bands from Tokyo; Megababe and Stone Deaf. The band names are all I have now, but expect more details soon. The list is not complete, so perhaps we’ll see some […]

KOTOKO to attend Toronto’s Anime North

Kotoko, who is also attending A-kon in Dallas, will be in Toronto on the weekend of May 26 - 28 for Anime North 2006.
More details will be around soon. Until then, check out Kotoko’s Official Site, and the announcement from Anime North.

P’EZ in Toronto’s bits magazine

As is the pattern with all Japanese bands that visit Toronto, P’EZ have a feature interview in Toronto’s #1 Japanese Magazine, bits. They are on the cover of the April 7 issue (that’s tommorow), and the website has yet to change. But, tommorow probably, you can find it on their interview page. I should scan […]

CMW 2006 Details

With March’s Canadian Music Week just around the corner, Torontonians can now set your schedule according to the Scene. As the faithful readers will know, DMBQ and PE’Z will be attending.
PE’Z will be part of the Celtic Country Jazz Traditional Break Thru Series show at The Gladstone Hotel on March 2nd. They are […]

DMBQ and PE’Z to attend Toronto’s Canadian Music Week 2006

With the focus on SXSW XX this year, it seems that CMW 2006 will be lacking the lineup it had in last year’s incarnation. However, my intial skimming of the bandlist has produced both DMBQ and PE’Z. If you’re curious about them, both bands have content on the iTunes Music Store, which you can wade […]

Polysics in Toronto’s BITS magazine

Toronto’s #1 (only?) Japanese magazine, bits, features both a Polysics cover and one page interview. You won’t be able to pick up the magazine unless you live in the GTA, but you can check out the online version with colour photos from the show at the El Mocambo.
Enjoy.
