The 2006 South by South West festival, entitled SXSW XX to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the event, will once again be host to a Japan Nite event. This year, however, to help celebrate the anniversary, there will be a second event, showcasing Okinawan Shamisen artists. Shamisen is a traditonal musical genre, about which your editor is not too familiar (but Wikipedia knows all). Should be an interesting addition though.

Also, the SXSW preliminary performer list tells us that Luminous Orange from Yokohama, Japan will be attending.
